A bit about me

This is a brief overview of my background and varied career for anyone interested; I really don’t expect you to be!

My family moved from the East End of London to Harlow New Town in the early 60s. I attended Pear Tree Mead Primary School and Netteswell Comprehensive. I can’t think of anything positive to say about the latter although I appreciate one or two of the staff were doing their best.

The School Band was however first class and along with Netteswell Youth Band they kept me out of trouble.

I completed a B.Sc. Physics with Musical Acoustics at University of Surrey, Guildford before joining the BBC.

I lived in Saffron Walden and Hoddesdon before moving to Manchester in 1984.
